JaVale McGee Does Not, In Fact, Own Two Platypus'

Denver Nuggets center JaVale McGee apparently decided that with the off season now in full swing, he had nothing better to do than engage in some high class trolling on Twitter. His idea was certainly interesting enough, as McGee started tweeting early on Monday that he had, at some point, acquired two platypus'.

Even better, the two platypus' were named Peter and Paul and apparently were poisoning him until his hand turned 'Barney Purple'. Naturally, this created a bit of a stir in the media, where making fun of JaVale McGee has been a fun past time for quite a while now. Some big names picked up the story.

Jokes on them!

JaVale McGee Might Be A Naturalized Citizen Of The Philippines Soon

So, Denver Nuggets center JaVale McGee had a pretty good postseason performance -- though it ended after seven games. What else is in store for the restricted free agent? Citizenship in the Philippines!

There is currently a bill in the Filipino House of Representatives that would grant McGee naturalized citizenship if the law-making body passes it. If that happens, McGee would then be eligible to play for the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team.

McGee did play in the Philippines twice during the NBA lockout, giving him some connection to the country.

Russell Wilson: Seattle Seahawks Starting QB?

Russell WIlson hasn't toiled in the minor leagues as a member of the Colorado Rockies for about a year now, but that decision has certainly paid off. After leading the Wisconsin Badgers to the Rose Bowl, Wilson worked his way into being a third-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks.

After a three-day rookie minicamp, Wilson is already in a position to compete for the team's starting quarterback position. He's going to be up against Matt Flynn -- wonder boy quarterback of the offseason -- and Tarvaris Jackson.

Hmm ... good luck with that, Wilson. Just remember, the Rockies would likely welcome you back with welcome arms should things not work out over the next couple of seasons.

Former Rockies Draftee Ross Stripling Throws No-Hitter For Texas A&M

Former Colorado Rockies draftee and current Texas A&M Aggies pitcher Ross Stripling threw a no-hitter against the San Diego St. Aztecs in a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon. Stripling struck out seven and walked one batter. That one runner was subsequently gunned down while trying to steal second base.

Texas A&M scored its only run of the game in the second error, mostly due to errors. Chance Bolcerek reached first on a fielding error and then advanced to second base on a throwing error on a botched pickoff attempt.

FCS Football Playoffs Expected To Expand To 24 Teams In 2013

Good news for the Montana Grizzlies and the Montana St. Bobcats if they ever have a down year at the FCS football level: they'll have four extra chances to make the postseason since the FCS tournament is expected to expand from 20 to 24 teams in 2013.

The Northern Colorado Bears will need a few years to even start competing with the Bobcats and the Grizzlies for positioning in the Big Sky Conference. The Bears were 0-8 in conference play and 0-11 overall during the 2011 season. This happened during Earners Collins Jr.'s first season at the helm.

Avalanche's Matt Duchene Up For TSN's Play Of The Year

There wasn't all that much to cheer about in the end for the Colorado Avalanche in 2011/2012, but the team still gave the fans plenty of moments to scream about when they were on. One of the best plays was a beautiful between the legs deke and shot by Matt Duchene against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and that play has been put up for TSN's Play of the Year.

Duchene destroyed his first match up in Group D of the tournament of great plays and is taking on a Patrick Kane shoot out goal in the Group D semi-finals. You can vote for Matt Duchene's play here, though he is currently leading at almost a 70/30 pace already with just over a day remaining in the contest. There is a video of the wonderful goal up on the match up site as well.

If he can get by Kane's deke-fest of a game winner, Duchene's play will face the winner of a match up between Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Eberle that will take place on May 14.
